Hartpury University and Hartpury College has a world class reputation. Since becoming a University in 2018 Hartpury are now rated 6th in the UK for Teaching in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.
With this success comes growth and the need to deliver a modern built environment to match the teaching accolades.
The Vitruvius team are leading the delivery of the new University Learning Hub project for Hartpury, as part of the campus upgrade.
The new University Learning Hub will be a first-class, modern, learning centre of excellence. Incorporating flexible study and social learning spaces, a library and administrative facilities to support future University growth.
An exciting point in our journey as we look ahead to launching our first building designed exclusively for our higher education students.
The building will house some of our most important university student services in one place, serving their study and social needs as well as providing valuable access to guidance and support.
It’ll also have some key sustainability features to future proof this facility for years to come, including rainwater harvesting and bat boxes.

Vitruvius lead new University’s Learning Hub project
As the strategic partner for management through all the construction stages, Vitruvius will lead the project from initial strategic definition to handover for a smoother construction journey.
This includes defining the project brief, procuring the design team, sub-consultants, main construction contractor (current stage) through to handover and occupancy evaluation in the next phases. (This follows the RIBA process stages 0-7).
About the project
The design mirrors Graze Catering Hub – the recently completed new catering and flexible learning facility. Both buildings are in line with design principals established for use across the of the whole campus.
The future proof University Learning Hub combines a newbuild area with the refurbished library to create a two-storey building, accessible to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The ground floor will provide a dynamic open plan space for students with a café and self-service kitchen. On this level students can access a range of support services such as the Innovation, Careers and Enterprise (ICE) team, Academic Registry, and Student Services.
The first floor houses the library, quiet study areas and modern classrooms.
Targeting environmental certification of ‘BREEAM Excellent’, green roofing and landscaping will ensure the building supports local biodiversity, making it sustainable for both students and the environment.
