Vitruvius delivered the brand-new Graze Catering Hub for Hartpury

A pleased client took full possession of their brand-new modern catering facility in time for the start of the academic year, following a soft opening with the catering depatment.

Hartpury ‘Graze’ Catering Hub is designed to flexibly accommodate a variety of multiple functions including teaching rooms, study spaces, conference, examinations and social events.

Hartpury appreciated having Vitruvius as a strategic partner for management through all the stages of the construction journey, from project definition, client brief preparation, design, contractor procurement and construction.

Vitruvius managed the selection of architect Roberts Limbrick and Main Contractor Barnwood, via competitive tender process to deliver this imaginative building for Hartpury. Despite the challenges following COVID-19 and Brexit, the whole team pulled together to deliver the building in time for new student intake.

The sustainable multi-use facility offers students a wide variety of nutritious food choices through a range of catering outlets. The elegantly curved building also houses a comfortable seating area making it the ideal place for the students to meet and catch up with friends, colleagues, and lecturers, or is perfect for a little extra study time.

The design was created with a thorough understanding of Hartpury’s defined challenges and functional requirements. It covers 2347sq.m over two-stories with external terrace area.

Designed to meet BREEAM Very Good standards, the environmental features include solar panels, bat, bird and hedgehog boxes.

Professor Andy Collop, Vice-Chancellor, Principal and CEO at Hartpury, said: “This stunning building will inevitably become an integral part of student life at Hartpury given its hugely dynamic range of functions. From the catering facilities right through to the impressive flexible teaching and conference spaces, Graze will be a lively hub for students, staff and visitors to gather, socialise, dine, learn and network.

As a specialist land-based university and college, sustainability and ensuring a positive future for people, animals and the planet is at the core of our values.”
