The University Learning Hub brings together academic, social, and administrative functions within a single, flexible building.

At the heart of Hartpury University’s campus, the University Learning Hub brings together learning, support, and social space in one inspiring destination.

Designed to reflect Hartpury’s world-class reputation, Named Specialist University of the Year 2026 – (The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, 2026).

This learning hub is a building is a modern, flexible, and future-ready learning, study and environments and a library.

An exciting point in our journey as we look ahead to launching our first building designed exclusively for our higher education students. The building houses some of our most important university student services in one place, serving their study and social needs as well as providing valuable access to guidance and support. It also has some key sustainability features to future proof this facility for years to come, including rainwater harvesting and bat boxes.

Our role in the project

Designed with flexibility, wellbeing, and long-term resilience in mind, the University Learning Hub supports current academic needs while remaining adaptable for future growth — a physical expression of Hartpury’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability.

 

The Vitruvius team were project lead for the new University’s Learning Hub project

As the strategic partner for management through all the construction stages, Vitruvius led the project from initial strategic definition problem solving through turbulent times to achieve a flexible soft handover. Standing by our client to construction manage the building to complete our clients total construction journey.

This includes defining the project brief, procuring the design team, sub-consultants, main construction contractor. Through to a construction management pivot and soft handover to allow earliest occupancy. (This follows the RIBA process stages 0-7).

 

About the project

Combining a contemporary library with collaborative study spaces, student support services, and social areas, the Learning Hub supports the full student journey — from focused independent study to informal collaboration and connection.

Spanning 3,048m², the building is organised around a central internal ‘street’ that runs from north to south. The street creates a strong sense of arrival and movement through the space. A welcoming reception desk, café, meeting pods, and bookable classrooms sit alongside a rich mix of quiet study zones and vibrant social learning areas, offering choice, flexibility, and comfort throughout the day.

External terraces at both ground and first-floor levels extend learning and social activity beyond the building, while high-quality finishes, modern technology, and carefully considered layouts create an inclusive and inspiring environment for all users.

Designed with flexibility and sustainability at its core, the Learning Hub supports current academic needs while remaining adaptable for future growth. Secure by design and responsive to user wellbeing, the building raises standards across teaching, learning, and campus life.
