An adjacent multi-storey car park was constructed to accommodate the increase in visitors. Sloping by approximately 1.5m end-to-end, the site presented plenty of challenges in terms of access requirements within a limited space.
Having previously project managed an 11-screen multiplex in Ilford, our experience was invaluable in bringing forward an amicable solution to this complex build.

Vitruvius
Vitruvius was appointed to support Britannia Construction to provide project rescue, management, construction and cost management on this complex project. The steel frame of the cinema had been erected too close to the rear boundaries of residential properties, causing issues with right of light.
Britannia appointed Vitruvius to undertake a strategic review and come up with a solution to move the project forward. Vitruvius continued with the building of the smaller retail units and consulted with all contractors and stakeholders involved. The steel frame was dismantled and re-built in the correct location.
Vitruvius lead and managed a full team of ten quantity surveyors, programmers and project managers to ensure smooth delivery of the project. All details were recorded and daily logs evidenced. Vitruvius liaised with the planning authority and worked with all stakeholders to ensure a successful outcome.
The Cineworld fit out contract was overlapped with the shell contract so fit out work could start early, ensuring the building was finished on time and no penalties were incurred.
Incorrect design information had been provided to the construction team which led to the positioning issues with the building. Vitruvius compiled a multi million pound professional indemnity claim which was ultimately settled by formal mediation process.
