Training Updates for Vitruvius

Vitruvius staff have been updated their training skills with Craig and Nathan recently completing Site Management Safety Training and Sharon undertaking Asbestos Awareness. Both courses are run by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Site management training and safe site supervision is critical to site safety and equally important is the level of safety awareness of the entire workforce on a construction site. Although this group of courses is often referred to generically simply as SMSTS Training, there are a number of Site Safety Plus training courses designed to provide the building, civil engineering and allied industries with a range of courses for individuals seeking to develop their skill sets. These SMSTS safety training courses are run through a network of CITB accredited Training Providers and provide comprehensive site management training that ensures all successful delegates are completely legal within their job roles onsite.  Training grants for the Site Safety Plus training courses are available to CITB levy payers.

Asbestos can be found in any industrial or residential building built or refurbished before the year 2000. It is in many of the common materials used in the building trade and still kills around 5000 workers each year, more than the number of people killed on the road.

When materials that contain asbestos are disturbed or damaged, fibres are released into the air, which, if inhaled can cause serious life-threatening diseases.

Vitruvius is happy to report that all three members of staff passed with flying colours!
