RE-FITS FOR ANYTIME FITNESS

After successfully completing the refurbishment and fit out of an empty unit at Merrywalks Shopping Centre in Stroud which was transformed into the 3000th Anytime Fitness gym, Gloucestershire based Vitruvius Management Services has been signed up to project and cost manage another Anytime Fitness gym in Hereford, with more in the pipeline.

Vitruvius acts as project and construction manager on behalf of their client, Adam Phillips, Director of Corinium Gym Ventures, who bought into the Anytime Fitness franchise in 2015.  The Stroud unit, which sits next to the multiplex cinema, needed a first-floor extension and bridge link to the neighbouring multi-storey car park as well as a complete refurbishment.  Vitruvius selected the contractors, prepared the JCT contract for works and was in control of contract negotiations, providing monthly valuations and payment recommendations to the client.  Vitruvius also appointed a leisure development specialist to ensure the acoustic specification between the gym and the cinema was correctly addressed. By project managing the interface of landlord and fit-out contractor, the work was carried out to the correct specification and on budget with final sign off in March 2017.

‘’I decided to appoint Vitruvius because I wanted someone in my corner who knew every aspect of the process we were about to embark upon,” said Adam Phillips. “I’d say the main benefit was cost management but also in terms of liaising with the contractor with regards to the build contract.  Working with Vitruvius gave me the peace of mind that I had a professional involved who was going to make sure the contractor did his job properly. I’m looking to open more Anytime Fitness gyms and have already appointed Vitruvius to help with my next gym in Hereford.’’  Anytime Fitness Hereford is due to open in September 2017.
