The ‘topping out ceremony’ took place on Wednesday 23 March in the spring sunshine, as the building officially reached its highest point. Topping out ceremonies continue a long-held and historic tradition of celebrating completion of the highest point of construction.
The multi-use space, comprising of two-storeys of flooring across 2347m2 and an external seating area, has been designed by architects Roberts Limbrick and constructed by Barnwood. The flexible catering hub will be a modern facility with state-of-the-art technology and a focus on sustainability, meeting both short- and long-term objectives of Hartpury to provide an improved catering services to both staff and students. The adaptable design of the building means Hartpury can also use the facility for commercial purposes including seminars and conferences.
On schedule for completion this summer, the building will be ready for the new academic year.
