Contractor appointed to build Hartpury’s new state-of-the-art catering hub

During the construction tender process, it was neck and neck, with other regional contractors in the running, but they were pipped to the post with Barnwood coming up top. It is fantastic news that a Gloucestershire company has been selected for this project to construct and upgrade the catering hub for the campus, a key demonstration of organisations supporting one another to drive local economic growth.  The forward-thinking design was also undertaken by Roberts Limbrick Architects, created through the understanding of Hartpury’s defined challenges and functional requirements.

Following the green light from Forest of Dean District council planners in October 2020, it is uplifting to see this exciting project move into the construction stage.

A first-class modern facility, with state-of-the-art technology and sustainable features, the new flexible catering hub will meet both the short and longer term demands and objectives of Hartpury to provide a greatly improved quality food service and an enhanced dining experience for students and staff on campus.

The 2347 sqm two storey building has been cleverly designed as a multi-use space, allowing flexibility that can accommodate a variety of functions, with adaptable teaching spaces to support higher education and further education, including providing commercial opportunities for Hartpury to host external seminars and conferences with a bar and café which will be integral for social and dining events.
